Lloyd George: Prime Minister

Lloyd George's sense of purpose, his ability to get things done, impressed many people. Asquith's running of the war seemed rather half-hearted by comparison. Lloyd George and leading Conservatives in the Asquith coalition government resigned in protest in December 1916 and Asquith was forced to do the same. Britain needed a new Prime Minister. The King, George V, asked Lloyd George to form a new coalition government with himself as Prime Minister. Lloyd George remained Prime Minister until 1922.
