British history VII

Neolithic and Bronze Ages

The Early Bronze Age c. 1800 BC - c. 1500 BC

This period saw the island of Britain becoming increasingly populated. Artefacts dating from the later part of this period display a skill of workmanship and a level of ornamentation previously unknown in Britain. These are thought to have been the work of a skilled group of immigrants and have become collectively known as 'Wessex Culture'. This period is also believed to have witnessed an increased level of trade between the south of England and the continent, in particular Brittany.
