British history II

Neolithic and Bronze Ages

Migration and settlement from c. 8300 BC

By 8300 BC, people were crossing into the area we now know as Britain and settling mostly in the East and South of England. Until around 6500 BC, when the English Channel was formed, 'Britain' did not exist but was simply part of the Eurasian landmass. The initial settlers were hunter-gatherers. This meant that they had a nomadic lifestyle, and spent most of their time engaged in obtaining enough food for survival.
