NASTY SURPRISE FOR PIG
A pig got a nasty surprise yesterday when it fell over the cliff on Sue and Tom Parker's farm near the village of Cowden on the Humberside coast.
"It happened just after I had fed the pigs," said Sue. "Part of the cliff suddenly fell away - with the pig on it. I climbed down and rescued the poor animal. I couldn't believe that it hadn't broken anything, but it was fine!"
The Parkers bought the land seven years ago. They had always wanted their own farm, and they had saved the money for it over many years. "We knew that some of the cliffs on the east coast aren't very strong," Tom explains. "But in those days it wasn't a big problem in this area. It started to get worse after we had moved here. Last year we lost fifteen metres of our land. It's terrible for us - our farm is slowly falling into the sea."
