Robin and his outlaws

 

Put in the verbs in the simple past.

 

Robin Hood ______ (be) an outlaw. He and his men ______ (live) in Sherwood Forest.

In those days Sherwood Forest ______ (be) very big. Nottingham ______ (be) a small town. But it ______ (have) a big castle - and it ______ (have) a Sheriff.

There ______ (be) a lot of poor people in England then. They ______ (need) things for their families, but they ______ (have) no money. Robin ______ (like) them and often ______ (help) them.

He and his men sometimes ______ (stop) people on the Nottingham road. "Give us your money!" they ______ (call) . "We are collecting for the poor people of Nottingham!"

Nobody ______ (want) to give money to Robin. But there ______ (be) no way out! They ______ (open) their purses, and the outlaws ______ (collect) their money.

At the end of the day Robin ______ (count) all the money.
